Primary
Objective
As
part of the teaching team, instructors are responsible for teaching and
assisting students develop both the skills and passion for their career
as well as passing the state cosmetology boards.
Education
- Deliver
education that meets industry standards by providing every student with
consistent high quality information and training during every interaction.
- Provide
quality instruction/developmental approach that will qualify students
to pass the State Board Examination and be employable.
- Increase
student satisfaction in the classroom, on the clinic, and overall by:
- delivering
curriculum in a powerful and engaging format;
- ensuring
effectiveness and efficiency of guest consultations;
- treating
students fairly and as valued clients during all interactions.
- Conduct
student advising; increase student completion rates; build positive
working relationships with students.
- Ensure
that student policies are enforced consistently and fairly; solve student
issues before they get to the Education Manager.
- Handle
student needs and inquiries, direct them to the appropriate person or
student services.
Administration
- Prepare
student reports and conduct advising.
- Enter
student data into database and paper files on a daily, weekly and monthly
basis; ensure data and files are always complete and up-to-date.
Service
& Retail
- Build
relationships with guests; enhance service quality and guest satisfaction;
actively supervise reception desk to ensure smooth operation at all
times.
- Monitor
supply and inventory levels;report and ordering needs to Education Manager,
assist with monthly and quarterly inventory counts, a receive and examine
supplies and orders; submit discrepancies to Education Manager.
- Ensure
that campus achieves service and retail goals.
- Assist
with daily closing, ensure that students are trained on point of sale
system.
Requirements:
- Applicants
must have a current or obtainable instructors license in the state of
New Mexico. (A license can be obtained by contacting the NM Board of
Barbers and Cosmetology)
- Must
have at least 3 years related work experience as an instructor and at
least two years of relative work experience in a salon /spa while licensed.
- Excellent
skills are required in the areas below.
- Communication
(written and verbal), sales, people management, customer service
and conflict resolution
- organization
and time management (filing systems, new process implementation, multitasking)
- Computers
and typing (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Ability
to learn new programs teaching, training, communication, and presentation
- Cosmetology
practical instruction

$25K-$45K
Salary (depending on experience) plus Bonus
